MESSAGE

We seek people who are as hot and powerful
as iron and who will lead the next generation.

Employee retention is high and many veterans are active in the company.
On the other hand, we have a corporate culture that fairly evaluates young people with ability and ambition.

When you join the company, you will first be familiarized with the entire workflow, focusing on the factory floor.
We do this because we want our clients to view all of our work as "their own business," as we perform all of our services in-house.
We are looking forward to hearing from those who are willing to work with a sense of responsibility and who can proactively make proposals and take action on their own initiative from a broad perspective.

INTERVIEW

Name: 八木 健人
Year of hire: 2017
Affiliation: Technical Development Dept.

"Manufacturing at its best."

I have loved manufacturing since I was a high school student, and after graduating from a technical college, I wanted to contribute to Wakayama, so I joined Otaka Rubber Industry Co.
I currently belong to the Technical Development Department. I am engaged in new rubber material development, technology development, and improvement. The Technical Development Department works closely with the Sales Department and the Production Department. I think it is very rewarding to work in this department because we spend a lot of time researching and developing new products, which are then well received by our customers.
I also like to be creative. On weekends, I write documents, draw pictures, and make music.

Name: 堀尾 宇絵
Year of hire: 2019

"Motivation is important."

I first encountered Otaka Rubber through a job search website.
I came to Wakayama for a factory tour because I heard that it was possible to play an active role in the company even with no experience.
When I saw the contents of the factory, I decided I wanted to work here.
It is a different field from what I have experienced so far, but from a technical development perspective, I am enjoying developing new products.
There are still many things that I am struggling with and don’t understand, but I am gradually growing under the guidance of my seniors. Above all, I think the most important point is to be motivated in your work.
I am currently in the Technical Development Department, where I am engaged in the research and development of rubber.
Rubber is a very peculiar material, and the addition of a small amount of chemicals can change its life span and physical properties.
My role is to research and develop the performance required by users by taking advantage of this feature.

"It's about clearing up the things we didn't understand, one by one, so that we can grow."

I met Otaka Rubber at a job hunting event.
During an interview, I felt that my boss and the atmosphere of the company would be a good fit for me, and I decided to join the company.
Since joining the company, I have been in charge of sales. I was in charge of major steel manufacturers and steel works.
At first, my basic job was to learn the manufacturing method of rubber rolls and the characteristics of each compound.
Later, I visited customers together with my seniors and was trained in communication skills as a member of society.
At first, I had a hard time remembering the rubber characteristics that were asked at the customer’s site.
Now I visit customers by myself and listen to what customers are having problems with and work with them to find solutions.
As rubber rolls are a niche industry, my job as a sales representative is to propose delivery dates and quality to satisfy our customers.

"I'm glad to have met Otaka."

I first encountered Otaka Rubber at a company information session for high school students.
After the information session, I toured the factory and the company, and as a result, I decided that I wanted to take the company entrance examination.
Before the factory tour, I had an image that the work was complicated and there was a lot of dangerous work, etc. However, during the company tour, the factory was well organized, and the personnel who guided me and the workers on site explained things in an easy-to-understand manner, giving me a taste of the company’s atmosphere.

After joining the company, I worked in the finishing group and am now in the second molding section.
My main job is wrapping rubber rolls after molding.
This work looks simple, but it is very deep. The rubber performance changes depending on the wrapping method and pressure applied. In addition, there are cases where small mistakes are made and the work has to be redone from the beginning.
When I started the job, I made some mistakes, but I was able to clear them with the detailed guidance and warmth of my seniors.
